Irony – A fee hike of forty lakhs in Govt. Medical Colleges in Haryana !

(08/11) – Haryana government’s major thumps against SC, ST and OBC class people are continuing one after another. The scam of backward and reserved students’ scholarship is still getting investigated and no culprit has been identified yet. Moreover government has paused many facilities and provisions for those reserved category students.
In the same way, the case of more than fourteen question paper leak incidenets of Haryana Staff selection commission, is still under investigation.
Unemployment rate in the State is now at 33.5%, whereas the government posts are lying vacant in large scale. On the other hand, government keeps hiking various academic course fees at grand scale. Congress spokesperson Mr. Suryewala criticized these unjustified fee hikes of the state government.

As per the notice issued by the state government on 6th November, the previous fee structure of government Medical Colleges are going to change. Previously course fee was ₹53,000 per annum whereas hostel fee was only ₹15-20000. As per new course fee, the complete annual fee will be 10 lakhs per annum. It means now MBBS students of Govt. Medical Colleges have to pay 40 lakh for four years.

Now, students have to give ₹3,71,280 fee and repay ₹36,28,270 loan. If with six percent interest rate for seven years, hence they will have to pay around 55 lakhs rupees to study medical in government colleges. Irony is that in Private Medical Colleges students pay 18-20 lakh rupees only to study MBBS. It means the fees in government Medical Colleges will be more than double of the private medical colleges.
Previously so many poor but intelligent students could study MBBS just with a fee of total 3 lakh rupees. From where those poor students would pay this much fee, Mr Suryewala asked the government. He objected that this step of government has been taken to promote private medical colleges only.
